IT Solutions

Byrom plc provides IT systems and services that enable the successful operational delivery of numerous global sports events.

Since 2003, Byrom has developed its ticketing (ENTRADA™) and hospitality IT solutions in-house, following an initial stage of 13 years where IT activities were mostly outsourced, with the exception of our accommodation and VIP Management IT solution (CHECK-IN™) which we introduced in 1994.

Byrom took this important step with a view towards developing tailored, customised applications that could meet the diverse and unique business requirements of our clients.  To support this initiative, Byrom cultivated an internal, world class IT development capability (Software Centre based in Barcelona, Spain) that has improved the efficiency and delivery capability of our client-facing operational teams.

Most of the senior staff in our Barcelona based Software centre has extensive major events experience that started at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and extended to other Summer and Winter Games including the 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 editions as well as numerous other multi-sport events such as the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the Pan American Games, amongst others.

Our expertise covers the whole IT life-cycle, from specialised business consultancy that supports the functional definition of the systems, to software development, testing, implementation and post-roll-out support. Within Byrom we also have expertise in defining and managing the implementation of the necessary IT infrastructure (power, connectivity etc.) to be deployed at the different event locations.

Byrom’s IT department has served all FIFA World Cup™ editions since 2002 in a variety of operational roles and through its wholly owned subsidiary MATCH Services AG (MATCH), has been FIFA’s complete event IT solution provider for the FIFA World Cups™, FIFA Women’s World Cups™ and FIFA Confederation Cup’s since 2009 through until 2015.

Our role as IT Solutions service provider to FIFA encompasses a select number of mission critical systems that support event related business processes including accreditation, volunteer/event staffing and transportation. MATCH is also responsible for the implementation of a telecommunications network solution using a collection of advanced technologies to connect hundreds of event locations in support of key user groups including the FIFA delegation and staff, the event Organising Committee as well as the thousands of members of the media who will attend each event. This network has the challenge of also supporting the delivery of the products and services of all areas of MATCH in a seamless manner before and during all event activities.

MATCH oversees the complex deployment and recovery of a massive number of network and communication devices, computers, printers, servers and cabling for all event locations.

During the event period, MATCH leads an event monitoring and support operation that integrates resources from all organisations that are a part of the event IT Solution including FIFA, the event Organizing Committee, FIFA’s Commercial Affiliates and service providers.
