Kuala Lumpur 1998 XVI Commonwealth Games
Byrom plc, through its wholly owned subsidiary SEAMOS Marketing Hds Bhd (Malaysia), operated the "SUKOM Accommodation Bureau '98" ("SAB '98") for the 1998 Commonwealth Games staged in Malaysia.
SAB '98, on behalf of the Organising Committee for the Commonwealth Games, provided accommodation and other services for the sponsors, marketing partners, the world’s media, the Commonwealth Games Federation and Commonwealth Games family, participants, and spectators. SAB '98 provided the management logistics and inventory management services for the games village.
Over 60 hotels were contracted by SAB '98 and an office was opened in Kuala Lumpur in July 1996. It was widely recognised that the games were the largest held in Asia since the Seoul Olympics, and were a huge operational success despite the adverse economic conditions of the time.
